One person has been confirmed dead in an accident that occurred on Saturday before the Saapade bridge, along the Lagos-Ibadan Highway in Ogun State.
DAILY POST reports that nine persons were also injured in the accident involving 18 persons.
It was learnt that a Mazda bus with registration number, KRE 495 XA and Mack tanker marked LND 868 XN were involved in the road crash.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps said the accident was as a result of “wrongful overtaking on the part of the bus coming from Ibadan to Lagos, causing it to collide with the oncoming tanker.”
TRACE Corps spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said one male adult died, while five male adults and four female adults sustained injuries.
Akinbiyi said injured victims had been rescued to State Hospital Isara, while the remains of the dead victim had been deposited at FOS Mortuary, Ipara.
Meanwhile, the corps has urged the motoring public to drive with care and obey all traffic rules, signs and symbols.
